About Strength Training

Strength training is a vital part of a balanced exercise routine utilizing your own muscles to work against the ‘extra’ pounds (called resistance) to build the strength, anaerobic endurance and size of skeletal muscles. It is the fastest way to improve muscle strength and endurance.

Strength training includes resistance methods like free weights or machines. Trainers also incorporate the use of resistance bands and tubing, ropes, Bosu balls, kettlebells, or even your own body weight.

Today, most athletes follow some type of strength training program to keep them strong and to avoid injuries. Specific training to a sport can also help improve power, strength and speed to make you a better, all-around athlete.
